The South East of England spans a huge area of countryside encompassing some of the most diverse natural regions and heritage towns in the country. Famous for its royal connections at Windsor Castle and Hampton Court and for such lavish architectural wonders as Brighton Pavilion, the south east also boasts some of the best shopping areas in the world at Blue Water and Lakeside and one of the world's most popular boat shows at Southampton.
Whatever you want to do or see, there will be something to meet your needs in the south east of England. Tour around the New Forest, favourite hunting ground of William the Conqueror, or for something a little more up to date visit the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. Find an historic cathedral at Canterbury or visit the historic Dockyards at Portsmouth.
Take the children to some of the most exciting theme parks in the country or visit our famous Zoos – Beaver Zoological Gardens in Surrey home to an endearing family of chipmunks or Isle of Wight Zoo where you will find the largest collections of tigers and lemurs in the country.
Visit the home towns of some of the best loved authors in the English language – Jane Austen in the village of Steventon in Hampshire; Charles Dickens in the city of Rochester – the setting for many of his novels – and Kenneth Grahame of Wind in the Willows fame – inspired by his natural surroundings on the banks of the River Thames.
